There was no doubting it... my bedroom was a hideous pit that smelled of dog and worse. It needed decorating. In fact, more than decorating, a complete and utter makeover. But where to begin.... Husband didnt see a problem with it, but it was beginning to make me ill, depressed, lethargic, like a massive weight on my shoulders dragging me down, making me old. To be honest, the task was so daunting I was thinking of moving (although that was out of the question). After sitting, crying, being totally down, I had a little idea.

What about an interior designer? There were two in the area and the posh looking one didn't answer. So on to the next.... Karen answered. She didn't mind talking to a pathetic woman who didnt have a clue what she wanted. Down to earth and in a very organised way, she managed to coax out of my jibering that I quite liked Scandi style.

She explained that she would come over and have a look and what would happen next. I couldn't wait! within a week my saviour Karen and her trusty aid, rocked up, told me they had seen much worse (unlikely but it made me feel heaps better). After some gentle questioning and a few giggles, they were on the case and suddenly we had a plan!

Within a week Karen had come up with a great idea. With a tiny tweak or two we were on our way. She gave me detailed plans with layovers on how the furniture would work. She gave me a list of furniture to buy and what order to put it in to fit in with the works. She checked up on me regularly and helped with any building alterations that had to be made. If I had an idea and we could encorporate it easily, she made it happen. If we had to alter any furniture Karen was immediately on track, finding suitable replacements and also finding the cheapest and most effective ways to achieve our goals.

I won't tell you it was an easy job. Decluttering is awful, long, boring and soul destroying. But once the room was cleared it was like a huge weight had been lifted from me. The building work took quite a while. My husband did the work and he wasnt very enthusiastic to begin with. But we got there in the end, and the room is just magical and I love showing it off to visitors. The design caters for lots of storage, simplicity, TV watching husbands and even dogs and is so easy to keep clean. I cannot recommend Karen, Kirstin and the team highly enough and will be using them for future projects. They are girl power at its very best
